CU of alarm clock. Alarm clock rings.
Montage of girl (main lead) been rush to ballet class, volin class, etc finally mother puts the exhaust girl in bed, and switch off the light.

Scene 2: Int. of bedroom. Day
CU of alarm clock. Alarm clock rings and hand reach out to switch it off.
Scene 2a: Int. of bathroom. Day

Narration:
My name is Jane, I’m 15 turning 16 this years. Like most people I lived in the shadow of my mother and father. I walked the path that my mother wanted me to. She said all the things they did are for the good of my future.
Scene 2b: Int. of dinning room and living room. Day
LS of parents at dinning table. Father is watching a recorded wrestling. Mother is busy putting on make-up. Maid pours a cup of coffee into mother’s cup and put in two cube of sugar.
Narration:
My father liked to watch the wrestling, my mother liked to wrestle; it does not matter what. She was in the white corner and that was that.
Mother:
I said coffee without sugar! How many times I have to tell you?
Maid:
I’m sorry mum.
Mother:
You stupid or what? You see, daddy told you I want to change her already. She is always not attentive in her work. I must complain to the maid agency, when I get back from the office.
Father keeps watching his wrestling. Jane walks to table and grabs a piece of bread and the glass of orange juice.
Mother:
Where you going so early in the morning, Jane? Why don’t you sit down and have a proper breakfast? What’s the hurry?
Jane:
The annual inter-school track and field is around the corner, I’m going to the stadium to train up. And, I’m late, suppose to meet with some friends to train up.
Mother:
Then why don’t you hurry up! How many times I told you that we must be punctual, don’t be late!
Jane hurries up to finish up her orange juice and stuff the bread in her mouth and wear her shoes.
Mother:
Work hard on your training. I’m expecting to see another gold medal from you again!
Jane walks out of the house before she can hear the last words from her mum. Mother keeps nagging and father keeps watching his wrestling.
Dissolve to:
Scene 3: Ext. Stadium. Day
Jane was running in the stadium, stop for a rest. She walks out of the track and makes her way to the vending machine. The vending machine was spoilt, she walk to the other vending machine at the back of the stadium.
Scene 3a: Ext. Day. Stadium
Narrator:
I wouldn’t have noticed Liz if I hadn’t gone round the other side of the stadium to buy a drink.
Liz is dress in p-t shorts and T-shirt, her hair is tied up in a pony tail and is squatting in-front of the vending machine. She is trying to fish out the coin that drops underneath the vending machine.
Jane:
Do u needs me help?
Liz smiled and carried on. Jane went down and helps her fish out the coin. Finally, Jane got the coin.
Jane:
I got it!
Narrator:
She looks up and I noticed her eye were a lovely hazel brown like the autumn
Jane gave the coin to Liz.
Liz:
Thank you for your help.
Liz gets herself a drink and walk away. Jane also gets a drink. Just than she heard a loud hissed and a sigh. She turned and saw Liz wet from the spilling ‘100 plus’.
Liz (sighed):
What luck!
Jane:
You can have mine. I still have some coins to get another can.
Jane opens up her can and the ‘100 plus’ spilled out and wet both Jane and Liz. Both of them broke out in laughter.
Liz(giggling):
Liz!
Liz introduces herself to main lead.
Jane (giggling):
Jane. Nice to meet you, Liz. You have such a ‘sweet name.
Liz:
Yup, it’s really a ‘sweet’ name!
Both of them broke out in laughter again.
Scene 4: Int. Living room. NIGHT (Short story A)
Mother and Jane are sitting in the living room watching television programme.
Jane:
Mum. How do you meet father?
Mother:
Why do you ask suddenly?
Jane:
Well just want to know.
Mother:
Well, it’s not something I’m proud of, and I’ll only say it once.
DISSOLVE TO:
Scene 4a:
Narration: It was then I experienced a feeling I had never known before: a fizzing and a buzzing and certain giddiness, Not only with your dad, but with anywhere, at any time.
Well, I thought it must be love. But this puzzled me because your dad wasn’t very clever, and didn’t have much to say, except to exclaim how beautiful I was. Perhaps he was handsome? But no, looking in the magazines, I realized it wasn’t that either. But the feeling wouldn’t go away. Then, on a quiet night, your dad begged me for a kiss. The frizzing began and as he clutched me to him, I felt that I would never love another…..
CUT TO:
Scene 4b: Int. LIVING ROOM. Night
Mother paused and she was overcome with emotion.
Jane (begged):
and?
Mother:
The worst is still to come…..
Scene 5: Int. Jane’s living room. DAY
Today is Jane’s birthday. Liz surprise her by bringing her a cake to her house. The door bell ring.
Jane:
I will go get it Maria.
Liz:
Surprise! Happy birthday, sweetie!
Liz smile and show a cake to Jane.
Scene 6: Int. Jane’s room. DAY
Liz:
Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to Jane. Happy birthday to you! Make a wish before you blow out the candle.
Jane closes her eye and makes a wish and blow out the candle. Liz hugged her and gave a kissed on Jane’s cheek. Jane looks stunned. Liz smeared the cake’s cream on Jane’s nose. Both of them have cream fight. Chase around the room.
DISSOLVE TO:
Both of them were lying on the floor, the birthday cake half-eaten. Both of their face is full of cream. Liz stroking Jane’s head.
Narrator:
she stroked my head for a long time and then we hugged and it felt like drowning. Then I was frightened but couldn’t stop. There was something crawling in my belly. I had an octopus inside me.
DISSOLVE TO:
Montage of still pictures of Jane and Liz going out, shopping, studying, etc.
Narration:
And it was evening and it was morning; and another day. After that we did everything together and I stay with her as often as I could.
My mother seemed relieved that I spend more time on my study and for a while made no mention of the amount of time I spent with Liz.
Scene 7 Ext. Void deck (Short story B):
It’s after school. Chong and Darren sitting on the stone chairs at the void deck. Darren on the table top, Chong seated with his leg on the table.
Darren:
Talk to me chiobu, tell me your name! … You bang! You bang! When you move, you move.
Camera pulls out and Darren standing on the stone table. Chong sitting at the chair, laughing at Darren and restrain himself when Darren finishes singing.
Darren:
Chong, how do you think of my love song? Very Rick martini hor!
Darren:
I’m very talented right? See you listen till cannot say anything.
Chong:
NOT…
Chong Bust out laughing
Chong:
….BAD!
Darren:
Wa liew! Still can laugh ah.
Darren kick Chong’s legs off the table, jumps down from the table to the chair and punches Chong at the shoulder
Darren:
You promise me to help me chase that chiobu at 4A one leh. I’m running out of idea liao lah. Still say you are what love song prince! I think you more like the love song prince’s backside.
Chong:
At least, I’m still the love song prince’s backside.
Chong stood on the chair and shake his backside in front of Darren’s face.
Chong:
You leh, can’t even fit to be Wee Li Wang’s front teeth.

Both boys turn towards the approaching girls (Jane and Liz). Among them is Darren’s dream Jane
CU of Darren’s face, he closes his eye.
Screen fade to black.
Screen fade up. Darren is now standing in front of Jane, everyone in the frame freezes except Darren.
Darren (v/o):
People always say that when you met the one you love, time will stop. Standing in front of me is the girl I like, Jane. She studies next to my class and everyone in her class calls her ‘Ayumi Christina’. She has the hottest body like Christina agurila with big boots & pointed butt and an angelic face like Ayumi ……
Darren holds up his hand to wave to Jane.
CU of Darren, closes his eyes.
Screen fade to black.
Darren (v/o):
However, once that moment of time is up, everything moves faster than you can catch hold of it.
Darren freezes; the rest of the people pass him in fast motion. Jane and Liz walked off to the lift. She turns back to take a last look at Darren before she and Liz entered the lift. Darren turns around and found that she is gone. Chong walks towards Darren and punch him.
Chong:
Aiyo you day dreaming ah. Must be never see such a chiobu before, till you steam steam si bo.
Chong makes a gesture of a curvy wave to indicate sexy body.
Chong:
Just now, stands there like a wooden block, only manage to wave to her, you waste a good chance leh. You should have done your Rick Marti’s song to ‘xian’ her.
Chong starts doing the William Huang’s impression.
Chong:
Talk to me chio, tell me your name! … You bang! You bang!
Scene 8: Int. Jane’s room. DAY
Jane and Liz are alone in the room studying. Jane touches Liz and steals a peck on her cheek. At the same moment, Jane’s mother happens to return home from work. She quietly opens the room’s door to check on her daughter. It so happen she caught the couple in action. Jane’s mother is shock and rushes into the room.
Mother:
What the hell, both of you think you are doing?
The couple is shock to hear & see Jane’s mother.
Jane:
Mother!
Mother:
Maria! Come in quickly and help me separate them!
Liz:
Let us off Auntie!
Maria (the maid) came into room. The couple is clinging onto each other, while Jane’s mother is trying to separate the couple away.
Mother:
Maria! Still stand there for what! Come quickly and help me grab hold of Jane. I want to throw this madness out of my house!
Maria (Maid) grabs hold of Jane, while mother drag Liz out of the house and slam the door. She walks angrily into her room and brings out the rattan stick. Jane is still trying to struggle lose from Maria’s hand, crying and scream.
Jane:
Let me go! We did nothing wrong!
Mother canned Jane hard. Jane screamed in pain.
Mother:
This is madness! I thought Liz is your friend, just to come here to study. Occasionally, I even agree to let her stay overnight here because you said that you all will be doing your project till very late. I never expected this kind of things to happen! This is madness!
Jane:
We did nothing wrong!
Mother:
What! You thinking having a relationship with a girl are nothing wrong? I don’t mind you have a relationship with a boy, but with a girl? Must be Liz, she must have lead you astray! She is a lesbian is her problem, still want to drag my daughter along with her. This is incorrigible!
Jane:
No! I love her!
Mother:
Than do you not love us! Have you no gratitude to us of bringing you up!
Jane:

Mother:

Mother drags Jane to her room.
Jane:

You shall stay in the room till you admit to what you have just done is wrong! Tomorrow I will call the school that you are sick and will be taking sick leave for a few days. And at the same time, I will find you a new school.
Jane:

Mother:

Jane:

Mother:

Jane lead begs her mother. Mother throws her to bed and locks the door.

Mother search Jane’s bag and found her mobile phone. She looks through her list and found Liz’s number. She gave Liz a call and demands to talk to her mother.

Jane can hear her mother talking in the living room. Jane curves up in bed and continues to cry.
Scene 9: Int. of living room. NIGHT (Short story A)
Jane:

Scene 9a: Ext. various.
Father and mother are in park at night. Father kissed mother and suddenly jump up and look down. Mother saw something wet from his pants. Father runs away, leaving mother behind.
Mother (V/O):
I did not know what happen, then? You father just took off and leave me in the park.
When I got home, I saw blood on my panty. I was shock! Suddenly, I remember your grandmother once tell me that girls should not kiss with boys, once kissed we will have blood and get pregnant. I feel a fit of guilty anxiety.

Scene 9b: Int. of living room. NIGHT
Mother:
The next thing, I knew I was married to your dad at the end of the year.
Jane:

Mother:

There was no issue
For a few moments they sat there silent.
Mother:
Okay. It’s very late at night already. Go to sleep now, there is school tomorrow. I have always told you must have plenty sleep so that you can concentrate in class.
Jane got out of the sofa and walked to her room. Just as she reached the door, mother stood up.
Mother:
Don’t let anyone touch you Down There. (she pointed to somewhere at “there”)
Jane:
No, mother.
Scene 10: Int. Kitchen. NIGHT
Father came back from work. Mother starts complaining about their daughter. From the moment Father steps into the house to the moment he sat down at the dinning table to have his dinner.
Mother:
You finally come back. I want to talk to you about your daughter. The daughter of yours did an outrage thing today. You know what, she kisses a girl today. You still remember Liz? The one, that always come to our house to study. She is a lesbian, if I know that I won’t not have let her befriend our daughter, not to say to let her stay over at our place. If wasn’t I who come back early, I don’t know what they will do. This is outrage. Really waste my effort to treat Liz like my own daughter last time.
Father:
Your daughter’s matter you handle can already.
Mother:
What? Your daughter is also you responsible, why should I be the only one worrying. What become of her today, is all you fault too.
Father finished his food and gets up to go bathroom.
Mother:
Don’t you walk away. This house will be gone in no time…
CUT TO:
Scene 10a: Int. of bedroom. NIGHT
CU of father expressionless face. Mother still nagging and father tug himself in bed. Mother finally switches off the light.
Mother:
….if it wasn’t I who take care of these and that. What have you done? All you know is work and work. Don’t want to talk about it. The more I think about it the more, I wonder why I married to you at the first place.
Scene 11: Int. living room & Jane’s room. NIGHT.
The house is dark, everyone in the house is asleep. Maria came out of her maid room to the kitchen to make a cup of milo, wet a towel and went to Jane’s room. Jane lay on the bed, still crying.
Maria:
Feeling better my girl? I have made you a cup of
Jane sat up and gulps down the Milo and than she choke on the hot
Maria:
Drink slowly, it’s hot. Still hurts?
Maria took out the wet towel and clean Jane’s wound. Jane turn over so that Maria could reach her back. Than Jane could feel Maria’ breath on her neck. Than Maria began to stroke her head and shoulders. Quite suddenly Jane turns and kissed her.
Narrator:
We made love and I hate it and hate it, but would not stop.

Scene 12: Int. Various. Day
Narrator:
The next day, everything is as what mother had said. I did have a fever and she called the school that I wouldn’t be going to school for a few days. While I lay shivering in my bed, she ‘comb’ my room and found all the letters, all the cards, all the jottings of my own and threw them down the rubbish chute. She throws a lot more than the letters that day. I don’t think she knew. In her head she was still mother, but not my mother any more.
As for Maria and me neither one of us mention about what happened that night. We still chat as always like two good friends. After a few days, my mother told me she has found a new school for me and will personally drives me to the school everyday.
Scene 13: Int. Car. DAY
Mother and Jane inside the car. Mother is driving Jane to school. Jane eating her bread and look out of the car window.
Mother:
It takes me much affords to find a school to accept you at this end of the term. You must be a good girl and study hard Mummy will drive you to school and fetch to school every morning and Auntie Maria will fetch you home after school.
Jane just sits in the car eats her bread.
Mother:
Your ‘O’ level is around the corner, I want you to go to a junior colleague. So I want you to go home early everyday to prepare for your examination. It’s for your own good. I will call on you after your school to check whether you are doing your revision. Be a good girl and don’t let us down okay?
Jane just nods her head. They reach the school gate. Jane says good bye to her mother and goes to school.
Scene 14: Ext. On the way home. DAY
Maria and Jane are walking home.
Jane:
Maria?
Maria:
Yes?
Jane:
Can you please let me go and find Liz? I want to go see her badly.
Maria:
But…
Jane runs off, before Maria can reply her.
Scene 15: Ext. In front of Liz’s house Day
Jane stands in front of Liz’s house. She hesitates for awhile whether to knock on the door. After awhile, she picks up the courage to knock on the door. Someone open up the door. It is Liz’s mother.
Jane:
Hello auntie, I’m Liz’s friend is she around.
Liz’s mother:
Yes, come in. She is in her room.
Liz came to the door. When she saw Jane she tried to shut it.
Jane (begged):
I’ve got to talk to you. She nodded and let me slip pass.
Scene 15a: Int. Liz’ room. DAY
Both of them sat at the bed in silence. Liz looked tired and crumpled like a balloon full of old air. Jane touched her cheek, but she winced and pulled away.
Liz:
We can’t see each other its wrong.
Liz started to tug at the quilt. Jane stretched out to her and kissed her and kissed her till both of them were sweating and crying with mixed up bodies and swollen.
Narrator:
I think we cried each other to sleep. When I woke up it was nightfall. I turn around and see Liz asleep beside me. I kissed her one last time and left the house.
Scene 16: Day. Various.
Narrator:
By the end of that year I was my old self again. Liz’s parents had sent her to

Darren and a group of his JC pals are at the void deck studying.
Darren:

Jane was walking back from school, Darren saw her.
Chong:

Chong looks at the direction where Darren is looking. Darren stood up and walks towards Jane.
Darren:
Hello, my name is Darren. You live around here?
Jane:
Hello. My name is Jane. Nice to meet you.
